WHAT IS IT? NAET®(Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique)is a natural and non-invasive, drugless procedure to treat and eliminate all kinds of sensitivities and allergies to foods, herbs, vitamins, chemicals, environmental substances, etc.
NAET was discovered by Dr. Devi Nambudripad in 1983 who postulated that almost all disorders (also comprising developmental disorders) are caused when the electromagnetic forces of allergens (foreign substance- foods, chemicals, etc.) interrupt the energy flow inside the body. The focus of NAET treatment is to restore the energy balance of the body through a variety of techniques, ranging from kinesiology, Chinese acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathy.
HOW DOES NAET WORK? Chinese Medicine theorized that the human body has a flow of electrical currents (Qi) through the meridians or channels. NAET postulated that when the body receives an allergen that leads an allergic reaction, as a result the blockage happens in the meridians. Blockages of different channels inflict various symptoms. The body’s specific muscle is tested to detect strengths or weaknesses. One allergen or group of allergens and various combinations are treated in a specific order. By stimulating specific acupuncture or acupressure points on the back (Sympathetic and Parasympathetic) and the body while the patient holds an allergen (substance causing allergy) in a glass vial, the electromagnetic energy (force) is altered in the patient’s body resulting in biochemical and physiological changes and even emotional changes. That neutralizes the immune response and interrupts the antigen-antibody reaction. Theoretically, NAET treatment clears the energy blockage and notifies the brain that the allergen has been desensitized.
WHAT IS AN ALLERGY? Reaction of the body due to the incompatible substances (live and alive), that may have entered through various body ports, reactions due to extreme stress, and environmental stressors leading to cause distress to the immune system, and resulting into various immune reactions and sensitivity symptoms in the body.
We can also say that allergies are a body’s resistance to any energy that is incompatible with our own body’s energy. When the resistance is chronic, it can become solid and manifest as disease. (NAET)
ALLERGIES AND SENSITIVITIES Allergies and sensitivities impact our lives radically. When one has allergies they start controlling us. Our life, food, enjoyment and environment all are affected. We have fear of foods, restaurants, meal distribution places, marriage parties, supper nights, Christmas dinners, friends and relative’s homes.
Allergies place an enormous strain on children. The ages where they want to eat, play, and enjoy life worry-free. Instead, they are plagued with sensitivities and allergies. There are issues about their environment, and their parents and guardians are occupied with worries.
ALLERGIES CAN BE CAUSED ANY PRODUCT ON THE EARTH We can be allergic to foods and fluids, drugs, herbs and supplements, inhalants (through respiratory system), substance touching the skin, injected medicine, physical agents (cold, heat, dryness, humidity, fog, radiations, motions), molds and fungi and emotional factors. One can be allergic to people, our own energy or even our own body fluids (urine, sweat, saliva, etc.).

NAET CONSULTATIONS
First session is a consultation between Practitioner and Patient that involves your health history, and a health assessment. Patient is requested to bring different lab and allergy tests reports. In case of chronic and severe allergies they may be asked to get IgE done.
Patient is tested for different allergen to which he/she sensitive and allergic. Based on the preliminary allergy test results, Dr. Pahwa will design an individualized allergy removal plan. After these tests and allergy (ies) elimination visits are decided based on the number of allergies that are identified. Allergies can be treated in the order of their degree of sensitivities. Or based on the Doctor’s principle based advice so that the patient can get prolonged relief.
The Kinesiology based treatments, acupuncture, acupressure, and other techniques are utilized to remove sensitivities and allergies.
Mostly treatments start in the follow up session, however, treatments can be decided the same day of the visit if it seems necessary, because of patient is visiting from out of town, however he/she brings all required information.
Real samples of food and other items are also used to eliminate allergies that can be brought by patient in small glass containers (thoroughly cleaned e.g. baby food jars)
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT PROCEDURE?
There are a set of treatments that are done first in a recommended order from a group of basic (17) and common allergens and further.
Only one item of an allergen is treated at a time. Maximum three per week.
Sometimes an individual only with one allergy and a very strong immune system observes a very positive result after only one session.
However, many patients suffer from multiple sensitivities and allergies and they may require basics 17 sessions or more, but it is also not definite.
These basic treatments are most important that determines your body is absorbing the nutrients so that you can build up your immune system leaving you better able to eliminate other allergies.
Usually these are the nutrients in the food that you become allergic to and not the actual food as such. Therefore, when desensitization is done the nutrient food allergy will generally clear.
As the treatments with basics items (17) are completed it is observed that most of the food allergies are eliminated and this food has become healthy food.
If the basics are not cleared first the other allergy treatments will not sustain as told by NAET founder Dr. Devi, who has spent over 35 years of research to find this.
IF NOT ALLERGIC TO BASIC ITEMS
If you are not allergic to the basics then practitioner moves on-to work for the reason you are here i.e. Asthma, Candida, Eczema, Headaches, Hives, Environmental sickness, Occupational health problems, Pet allergies, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Allergies to Medications etc.
AFTER BASICS COMPLETION
When all the basic treatments are completed you will feel that you have more energy and cravings are reduced because there is going to better absorption of nutrients from the foods you were lacking.
For example-If you were allergic to fruits and breads you will usually eat a lot of those. Your body was craving for them, because it was not getting the nutrients out of it. Once the allergy is eliminated one will no longer crave or need to eat a large amount of fruits or bread.
Through this method, those who are overweight they can lose weight also. If you are underweight, by eliminating the allergy one can gain weight.
SESSIONS OF TREATMENT There are no definite numbers of treatment sessions. The factors are-
The time taken to achieve results depends on the strength of the allergy
The extent of allergies being treated
The body’s immune responses
Genetic makeup, body type, history, personality and emotional aspects
Example: Most clients see an improvement in their symptoms by the 5 or 6th NAET treatment. We recommend that you proceed through the 17/18 basic NAET treatments. These basic clearings reduce the sensitivity load on your body allowing you to comfortably handle other environmental stressors.
UNMASKING
During treating allergies via N.A.E.T. unmasking may be noticed. This means that as allergies are being cleared other hidden allergy symptoms may erupt spontaneously. It may not be in your knowledge that you had these unknown allergies but these are present. Then these needed to be removed as they are causing obstruction on energy channels.
TREATMENTS
Usually up to 3 treatments per week are recommended (no more than) or in some circumstances more can be performed. Remember, you didn’t get all that in days or overnight, therefore it will take time to get better. And it will sustain the rest of your life.
The success of treatments is at least 80% of the time. If method works for you it’s forever. The allergies should never revisit (under some circumstances treatments may fail if an acute traumatic event happens in your life).
Suppose your symptoms return please soon bring this in the notice of practitioner and you need to be treated again. This is very rare but it does happen.
If, for some reason, one has to quit treatments for a good length of time, after your return you could restart where you left off. It is not compulsory to start all over again.
Dr. Nambudripad has written a book “Say Good-bye to illness “on N.A.E.T. which gives many case studies. If you are considering receiving NAET, it is strongly recommended that you read this book before your you come to the treatments.
25 HOURS OF AVOIDANCE
After the treatment you will be given a list of items to be avoided including the substance tested. For the most of time the avoidance period is at least 25 hours. However, it could be longer in some individuals that will be determined on every visit.
HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER ANDDURING THE 25 HOUR AVOIDANCE?
Most people will feel fine; others may feel tired and weak. However some may feel toxin clearing reactions from the treatments, e.g. headaches, foggy head, things moving, nausea, emotional, etc. This may not last long. This detoxification does not happen often but it is possible.
If you feel tired or wiped out, get plenty of rest. You will most likely feel better when the 25 hours have passed.
Be sure to get plenty of rest and stay hydrated during this time. There is no way to accurately predict how you will feel, as the intensity of reactions, or lack of negative effects, depends on many factors such as the duration of your previous illness or allergy and the overall status of your immune system.
Allergies Caused by Products that NAET program can alleviate
We can be allergic to foods and fluids, drugs, herbs and supplements, inhalants (through respiratory system), substance touching the skin, injected medicine, physical agents (cold, heat, dryness, humidity, fog, radiations, motions), molds and fungi and emotional factors. One can be allergic to people, our own energy or even our own body fluids (urine, sweat, saliva, etc.). List of common and important allergens is provided below.
Foods
Drinks
Snacks
Animal hairs, dander
Aspirin (Acetyl salicylic acid- Found in many fruits also)
Chemicals (Pesticides, environmental chemicals)
Cigarette smoke
Cold and heat
Egg (Boiled and cooked/Scrambled, in foods)
Meats (chicken, beef, pork, lamb, goat)
Fish
Perfumes and flowers
Grasses and cereals related to grasses
Latex- Gloves,
Latex found in various foods products (cashews, squashes, sweet potatoes, banana)
Make-up chemicals, hundreds of them
Milk and their products (Cheese, yogurt, butter milk, sweets)
Allergy development It is still a mystery why some individuals develop allergies and others do not. Other times allergies are hereditary and may skip a generation also. Others postulate that allergies can develop during gestation period where the mother is exposed to various edibles and chemicals (inorganic, organic, biochemicals, pollutants, smoke, etc.) before and during pregnancy.
WHAT OCCURS ON FOLLOW-UP NAET APPOINTMENTS? We will test to observe the treatment that was performed last visit is complete or passed. Additionally patient followed all the precautions or not. If failed we do the treatment again to desensitize the allergen.
DOES NAET DESENSITIZATION LAST FOR A LIFETIME? Most treatments may last for years or a lifetime. However, if your symptoms come back, then a boosting treatment is needed. Therefore a 6 months or yearly recheck is recommended.
SERIOUS ILLNESSES AND NAET In addition to allergies if patient is suffering from compromised immune systems or are struggling with serious disease, may be recommended to take other treatments before NAET.

Some NAET Treatment Experiences 1. Dr. Ranvir Pahwa: There is no age for allergies. NAET method is able to help. Your practitioner Dr. Ranvir Pahwa (61 yrs) had developed allergies to various foods, spices, herbs and chemical in recent years. He could not eat more than 10 vegetables. He tried the NAET methods seriously and had a great success, and now he can eat more items that he had missed for months and years.
2. Robert Sampson, M.D., co-author of Breaking Out of Environmental Illness (Bear & Company, 1997), runs an alternative healing practice in Andover, Mass., for patients suffering from environmental illness and allergies and chronic fatigue syndrome. He uses NAET to treat 90 percent of his patients. "We don’t have the staff to keep statistics," says Sampson, "but to the best of my knowledge I would say that NAET has entirely relieved allergy symptoms or produced satisfactory improvement in 80 to 90 percent of our patients. But the individuals must follow through with a series of treatments as opposed to stopping after one or two. We’ve treated up to 200 patients so far with the technique." Using muscle-response testing, Dr. Sampson found that Gazzolo was allergic to 50 or 60 different substances, many of them foods. But after the first two NAET treatments, her symptoms worsened. "What the hell are you doing?," Gazzolo asked Sampson. He told her that some people get initial reactions like this. "He didn’t try to sell me an instant cure," she says. It wasn’t until the fourth treatment that Gazzolo saw improvement. "I had fewer hives," she says. "I came in with about 50 at the beginning of treatment and at that point I had 10. By the fifth session, they were all gone. When it finally happened, I just cried." After 8 treatment sessions, she was asymptomatic and no longer needed to continue. "I’m like a different person now. The bottom line is that there’s hope."
3. Dr. Cutler, too, who says she has treated hundreds of patients during the seven years she has used NAET, claims an 85 percent success rate in patients who stick with the treatment. Cutler lacks no confidence in NAET: "I’ll challenge any doctor. I’ll take their patient whose allergies they cannot cure, and I’ll get the allergies to go away." After 16 years of food allergy symptoms that ranged from hives all over her body (including inside her mouth) to extreme digestive disorders , artist Helen Uhl turned to Cutler for NAET treatment one year ago. Uhl, who was weak and emaciated at the time, didn’t see an immediate improvement after the basic treatments. Yet she felt enough subtle changes that she was willing to persevere."When I started, I was not allergic to halibut, rice, and turkey. But I was allergic to about everything else," she says. "Now, after a year, I can eat everything but milk products. I’m just so grateful to Dr. Cutler that I’ve gotten this far. I’d recommend NAET to anyone with allergies. For someone seeking help, a solution is out there." Not every patient treated with NAET for food allergies recovers as quickly or miraculously as Gazzolo as above. Nor can you walk into a practitioner’s office and say, "Just treat me for chocolate and bananas." NAET practitioners follow the same initial treatment protocol for every patient. Doctors begin with a series of 10 treatments for the most common allergens. The basic treatments cover various food groups, including egg mix (eggs, chicken, feathers, and tetracycline), calcium mix (goat and cow’s milk an substances such as casein and albumin contained in milk), vitamin C mix, (ascorbic acid, bioflavonoids, and fruits and vegetables containing vitamin C), and seven other food categories. "By the time most people finish with the basics," Cutler says, "many of their food allergies have cleared up." By the time I completed the basic 10 which took four weeks with three appointments per week, my severe digestive problems were nearly gone, and I was able to eat carrots, muffins, polenta, and peanut butter, all of which had previously triggered major reactions. At one point I began to wonder whether the 25-hour diets had to be so rigorous. In order to avoid certain food substances, the patient may be required to eliminate nearly everything from her diet for those 25 hours. For the B-complex treatment , for example, I was reduced to eating Jello, tapioca cooked in water, and if I wanted, Cool Whip. Those were the only foods Cutler identified that had no B vitamins. But what if I waited only 23 hours? Of what if I ate something that wasn’t on the diet? I quickly got my answer. The first time I cheated, I needed to repeat the treatment. Once we’d finished the basic treatments, Cutler retested all the food groups on the EAV machine. An amazing number of foods had "cleared" including corn, wheat, and most other grains. Unfortunately, I couldn’t muster too much excitement because the list was still a page long, and I continued to experience itching, the most annoying and frustrating of all my symptoms. In fact, the itching had grown far worse than it had been when I started treatment. After Cutler had eliminated some of my worst allergies, I had begun reacting to substances I had previously not been allergic to, a phenomenon known as "unmasking". I began having strong reactions to foods, food supplements, and herbs I was accustomed to taking regularly. And I had to repeat one treatment five or six times because it wouldn’t hold. Meanwhile I itched. It was my darkest hour. Soon after that, everything changed. Once I got through the treatment for bioflavonoids, most of the itching stopped. And in the past month I’ve raced through the list of foods I’m allergic to and crossed each item off after treatment. But the big revelation has been the physical and emotional changes. I feel better than I have in years. I’m no longer exhausted all the time nor do I feel hungry most of the day. I have fewer food cravings and they’re less intense. And when I indulge them, I’m satisfied with smaller portions and sometimes even just a taste. I also used to walk through life with a vague fog bank of depression floating above me. I’m not sure when that could lifted, but it definitely has. Although I still have some treatments to go before I’m done, the end, I clearly see, is in sight.Description of NAET Technique:naethawaii.com 4. Succesful treatment of food allergy with Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET) in a 3-year old: A case reportCaroline B Terwee. Published: 19 September 2008, Cases Journal 2008, 1:166 doi:10.1186/1757-1626-1-166;This article is available from: http://www.casesjournal.com/content/1/1/166 Abstract :Food allergy may constitute a major burden to children and their families. A 3-year-old girl was intolerant to milk, sugar, egg white, pork meat, and other foods, causing eczema and dyspnea. She was treated with Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET), a combination of kinesiology and acupressure. After 7 treatment sessions (within 4 weeks) she was free of symptoms. After three years, she can still eat everything without symptoms. This case report highlights the possible benefit of NAET for children with food allergy. Randomized clinical trials should be encouraged to study the effectiveness of NAET in treating food allergy.
Identifying Allergies through Muscle Testing By Laurie Teitelbaum (With Permission)
I perform applied kinesiology (AK), also called muscle testing, to determine food sensitivities in our office. I understand that there are quite a few skeptics who doubt the reliability of muscle testing and the few studies that have been done on it have had contradictory results. However, there is a study that was published in the International Journal of Neuroscience in 1998 that showed that the results of applied kinesiology for food sensitivities closely correlated with the RAST test and immune complex test for IgE and IgG. (See abstract below.) The way muscle testing has proven itself to me has not been through studies but through my practice with it. I have seen the reliability of muscle testing in a few ways. First, I have seen that the results I get from muscle testing often correlate with what the patient knows, but that I do not yet know. For instance muscle testing often detects food sensitivities a patient is aware of that I am not. Another example is that it is quite common that as I assess the organs that are in need of support with muscle testing, the patient surprisingly states that the ones I found are also the exact organs he or she is having a problem with. Second, with the treatment of sensitivities with NAET our goal is to make a previously weak muscle (in the presence of the sensitivity source) strong. When a weak muscle test is finally revealed to be strong, the sensitivity to that substance is also gone and the symptoms go away.
We see clearly: · weak muscle = symptoms · strong muscle = no symptoms
If the strength of the muscle upon being in contact with the sensitivity source has no relationship to sensitivities, the symptoms would not go away after we make a weak muscle test strong. Third, I have had the pleasure of working with a very sensitive 10 year old girl. When I began muscle testing her, her arm would drop every time I pressed on it and therefore it was not a good indicator. When a patient does not have an arm suitable for muscle testing I often call in a surrogate muscle tester. A surrogate muscle tester is a person who touches the skin of the person we want to test and instead of pressing down on the patient’s arm we press down on the arm of the surrogate. If you have not heard of this before I suspect you may be dubious of this procedure. I was also dubious when I was introduced to it, but I have since seen that it works. This technique has verified itself to me with testing when I see the tests reproduce themselves from the patients arm to the surrogates arm. For instance if I muscle test a list of substances using the patient’s arm, the test will come out the same as when testing the same list of substances with the surrogate’s arm. When you see something enough times, you don’t doubt it so much. Something very interesting with this 10 yr old girl is that she is so sensitive that when we put the vial of an unknown substance in her hand, she can tell me whether she is sensitive or not sensitive to the substance by the way the vial feels in her hand. If she is sensitive she tells me that the vial is hurting her hand. When she is not sensitive she feels nothing. Meanwhile, it happens repeatedly that when the child says that her hand is hurting, her mother’s arm (as the surrogate) goes weak. I have tested perhaps 250 substances in the hand of this child and only two times that I know of did the muscle test (which is often blinded to the child) not match the times the child said her hand hurt. In other words, when the child says that the vial is hurting her hand, the mother’s arm is also going weak with the muscle test. Needless to say, the child and her mother are now as convinced that muscle testing works as I am.
STUDY ABSTRACTCorrelation of applied kinesiology muscle testing findings with serum immunoglobulin levels for food sensitivities International Journal of Neuroscience. 1998. Schmitt WH, Leisman G. This pilot study attempted to determine whether subjective muscle testing employed by Applied Kinesiology (AK) practitioners, prospectively determines those individuals with specific hyperallergenic responses. 17 subjects were found positive on AK muscle testing screening procedures indicating food hypersensitivity (allergy) reactions. Each subject showed muscle weakening reactions to oral provocative testing for a total of 21 positive food reactions. Tests for a hypersensitivity reaction of the serum were performed using both a radio-allergosorbent test (RAST) and immune complex test for IgE and IgG against all 21 of the foods that tested positive with AK. These serum tests confirmed 19 of the 21 food allergies (90.5%) suspected based on AK screening. This study offers a basis to examine further a means by which to predict the clinical utility of a given substance for a given patient, based on the patterns of neuromuscular response elicited from the patient, representing a conceptual expansion of the standard neurological examination process.
